Old Graveyard
Watercolor on Fabriano Paper 300 g/m2

Graveyards are interesting for a number of reasons. One is that they tell stories about people, their connections and their culture. I imagine all the dead people and ask myself how much regret is breathing around: the things they did or that they never did, the words they told or that they never told, all the chances that they missed.
This one is in Mirabello Monferrato. In 2013 while driving back from Liguria, the small chapels close to each other and perfectly aligned to the backwall of the graveyard generated an amazing silhouette against the sunny sky which was visible from the motorway. So, I decided to stop and take some pictures. One served for this small watercolor sketch.
